[The Financial News] As the fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran continues, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has signaled that he will not stop his campaign to eliminate Iran's nuclear threat.
Appearing on CBS's news magazine "60 Minutes" on the 10th local time, Netanyahu said, "The war with Iran is not over yet."
He said, "We have significantly weakened not only Iran's nuclear capabilities, but also its proxy forces and missile production capabilities." He added, "But the threat still remains, and there is work left to be done."
He also argued that Iran must remove all of its highly enriched uranium from the country and completely dismantle its enrichment facilities.
According to estimates by international monitoring agencies, Iran is believed to hold about 440 kilograms of uranium enriched close to weapons grade.
Netanyahu maintained a hard-line tone on how Iran's nuclear material should be handled.
He suggested the possibility of physically removing it, saying, "We have to go in and take it out ourselves." He added that if an agreement is reached, that would be the "best way" to eliminate the nuclear material.
He was, however, cautious about possible responses if the talks collapse.
Netanyahu emphasized that he would not provide a specific timetable, but stressed that this nuclear removal mission is a very important task.
Experts say his remarks are intended to pressure diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran, while also sending a warning that Israel could take independent military action if necessary.
