[Financial News] Lisa, a member of the girl group Blackpink, is expected to appear on the stage of the opening ceremony for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held next month.
On the 8th local time, sports outlet The Athletic reported that Lisa had signed a performance contract with FIFA.
Lisa is expected to perform alongside Katy Perry, Future and DJ Sanjoi before the United States- Paraguay match at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles (LA).
This World Cup will be held across three countries: Canada, the United States and Mexico. As a result, the opening ceremony will also be staged three times. The opening ceremonies in the United States and Canada are planned to run 13 minutes each, while the Mexico stage is set for 16 minutes and 30 seconds.
At the opening match in Toronto, Canada, Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette and Alessia Cara are among those expected to appear. At the opening match at Estadio Azteca in Mexico, rock band Mana, Alejandro Fernández, Belinda and Tyler are expected to take the stage.
It is notable that a K-pop singer will take the stage at the World Cup, one of the world's biggest football festivals. At the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, BTS member Jung Kook performed and introduced the official soundtrack, "Dreamers."
Meanwhile, Lisa is a Thai-born member of Blackpink and has been pursuing solo activities alongside the group since its debut in 2016. Her 2021 solo single "Lalisa" sold more than 736,000 copies in its first week, setting a record among female K-pop artists.
