[Financial News] Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader, has sent a congratulatory message to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the 81st anniversary of Russia's Victory Day, which marks the Soviet Union's victory in World War II. Kim was reported to have stressed the alliance between the two countries, saying he would "always be responsible for fulfilling the obligations of the treaty between North Korea and Russia."
KCNA reported that Kim said in the message on the 9th that he was "reaffirming the position of the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to place the highest importance on the comprehensive strategic partnership and steadily elevate and develop it."
Kim also extended congratulations on the 81st anniversary of Victory Day and emphasized that he is "always satisfied and proud" of North Korea-Russia relations.
In particular, Kim underscored his closeness to Putin by referring to him as his "closest comrade," "respected Comrade Putin," and "dear Vladimir Vladimirovich."
North Korea and Russia have been cooperating in many areas since signing the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in 2024. Around the first anniversary of the "Kursk Liberation," high-level exchanges between the two countries intensified, with Russian ministers visiting North Korea one after another. However, Kim's much-anticipated trip to Russia ultimately did not take place.
