[Financial News] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SMOE) will launch a public awareness campaign with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to help teenagers better understand the risks of cyber gambling.
The campaign treats cyber gambling, often seen as a simple online pastime, as a dangerous activity that can lead to crime. It will focus on helping students develop the judgment to block access on their own.
According to SMOE on the 6th, the two agencies plan to produce and distribute videos and web posters so that teenagers can recognize the dangers of cyber gambling and prevent it themselves.
The campaign is designed to help teenagers see cyber gambling not as simple curiosity or online play, but as a serious issue that can lead to gambling-related crime.
Centered on the warning message, "One click can be the start of cyber gambling," the campaign urges people to immediately block suspicious sites, illegal links, and messages inviting participation, and to reject them firmly.
SMOE and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency produced the materials in video and web poster formats, taking into account the media environment teenagers actually encounter.
The promotional format was also tailored to teenage users. The videos were made in a short-form style familiar to young people so they can easily access them on mobile devices and social media.
The web posters were created so they can be used across a wide range of online and offline media, including print materials, outdoor and newspaper ads, online banners, and digital signage.
They will be rolled out sequentially in May through the websites and official social media accounts of SMOE and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. The agencies also plan to deliver prevention messages through offline everyday media installed or placed in public transportation, apartment elevators, movie theaters and libraries, as well as through online channels such as mobile services linked to schools and families.
SMOE said it will continue working with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to expand preventive campaigns for the healthy growth and protection of teenagers, while also providing promotional materials that can be used in schools.
