The tragedy is particularly heartbreaking as it is reported that the male student met his demise after approaching to rescue the female student upon hearing her screams. According to police and other sources on the 5th, around midnight, a female high school sophomore, identified as A, was found in cardiac arrest with severe neck trauma on a street in Cheomdan-dong, Gwangju.
It was determined that A had been attacked with a weapon by an unidentified suspect. The tragedy did not end there.
It was confirmed that B, a high school student of the same age who was across the street, heard A's desperate screams to "save me" and ran towards the source of the sound, only to suffer similar stab wounds from the suspect. It is reported that the two students were peers in their second year of high school in the same area, but had never met before. Immediately after the incident, both students were urgently transported to nearby hospitals.
However, A, who suffered fatal injuries, ultimately did not regain consciousness and passed away. B, who was attacked unexpectedly, was transferred to another hospital for treatment and is fortunately reported to be in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries. The police are concentrating their investigative efforts on tracking down the suspect behind this horrific crime committed against teenagers in the city center late at night.
A police official stated, "We have not yet been able to begin a full-scale investigation of the victim as B is currently recovering in the hospital," adding, "We plan to conduct an intensive investigation into the exact circumstances of the incident and the extent of the damage as soon as B's condition improves.
