[Financial News] As ceasefire negotiations between the United States (U.S.) and Iran remain deadlocked, U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 2nd (local time) that Iran had sent a new proposal.
President Donald Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social that he would soon review "the plan Iran just sent us."
He also expressed skepticism, saying, "It is hard to imagine that the plan will be accepted, given that Iran has not yet paid a sufficient price for what it has done to humanity and the world over the past 47 years."
The remarks suggest that while he is willing to review Iran's proposal itself, he still believes a deal will be difficult without concessions that meet U.S. demands on key issues such as Iran's nuclear capabilities and sanctions relief.
The Associated Press (AP), citing Iranian media including Tasnim News Agency, reported that Iran sent the U.S. a 14-point ceasefire proposal through Pakistan, which served as a mediator. AP said it was a response to the nine-point ceasefire proposal put forward by the U.S.
According to local and foreign media reports, Trump also mentioned the possibility that the U.S. could resume attacks on Iran when he met reporters before boarding Air Force One at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, for his trip to Miami.
