[Financial News] On the 29th, Jung Cheong-rae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said he would move quickly to push for a Special Prosecutor immediately after the activities of the Special Committee for the Parliamentary Investigation into Alleged Political Prosecution and Fabricated Indictments under the Yoon Suk Yeol administration come to an end.
At a Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Jung said, "Since the special committee has already approached the substantive truth, the Special Prosecutor should take over from here, uncover the full story behind all suspicions, and punish those responsible." He added, "As soon as the committee wraps up its work, the Democratic Party will swiftly push for a Special Prosecutor to reveal the truth in full and bring those responsible before the judgment of the law."
He noted, "Through three rounds of agency briefings and four hearings so far, the special committee is laying bare the fabricated indictment practices of politically motivated prosecutors, which were carried out with great precision under the Yoon Suk Yeol administration." He added, "In all seven other cases under investigation, including manipulation of transcripts, Excel files, and testimony, it is becoming clear that there was direction and involvement at the level of the administration."
He also said, "Mobilizing state institutions against just one person is a clear act of state violence." He added, "We will move forward by putting in place legal and institutional safeguards so that this never happens again."
