[Financial News] The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy has seized a vessel suspected of cooperating with the United States military.
According to a report by Iran's Tasnim News Agency on the 24th local time, the IRGC seized the Epaminodes on the grounds that it had violated maritime regulations.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said it had monitored intelligence over the past six months and confirmed that the vessel had visited U.S. ports multiple times. It added that it seized the Epaminodes after the ship repeatedly violated maritime rules despite numerous warnings.
Earlier, the IRGC also detained three vessels on the 22nd for allegedly attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without prior military approval.
In response, the United States has also seized two vessels, including tankers belonging to Iran's so-called 'dark fleet' that illegally transport oil and other goods to evade international sanctions, underscoring rising maritime tensions between the two countries.
