\r [Financial News, Hanoi, Vietnam = Reporter Choi Jong-geun]President Lee Jae-myung held a friendly event with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and President of Vietnam, as the final schedule of his state visit to Vietnam.
On the 24th local time, President Lee and his wife, together with General Secretary To and his wife, took part in the friendly event at Hanoi's Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long that morning. The citadel is a historic site where architectural styles from China, Vietnam and France were blended over the course of a thousand years of successive dynasties. It was also the political center of Vietnam for a long period and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2010.
President Lee and General Secretary To watched a performance of traditional Vietnamese music, and they were also seen talking during a break. Lee nodded and smiled in response at times, while First Lady Kim Hye-kyung watched the performance and spoke with First Lady Ngo Phuong Ly.
Kyuyoun Lee, senior presidential secretary for public relations and communications at Cheong Wa Dae, said, "After touring the national treasures and relics on display at the citadel, the two couples had tea outdoors at the citadel and watched a traditional performance." He added, "This friendly event was carefully and thoughtfully prepared by the Vietnamese side as a gesture of reciprocity for the exceptional hospitality we showed when General Secretary To visited Korea last year. It will serve as an opportunity to further deepen the friendship and ties between the two leaders."
