[The Financial News, New York City = Reporter Lee Byung-chul] U.S. President Donald Trump said that "time is on America's side" in connection with ceasefire negotiations with Iran.
On the 23rd local time, Trump pushed back against some media reports on Truth Social, saying, "I am in no rush to end this war."
He singled out The New York Times (NYT) and Cable News Network (CNN), claiming reports that he was rushing into negotiations were false.
Trump said, "I may be the person under the least pressure here," and added, "I have plenty of time, but Iran does not."
Trump also expressed strong confidence in the current military situation.
He claimed, "The Islamic Republic of Iran Navy is sunk at the bottom of the sea, its air force has collapsed, and its air defense and radar systems are gone." He added, "Its leadership no longer exists," underscoring his military advantage once again.
He also suggested that the U.S. has secured control of the seas, including the Strait of Hormuz, saying, "The blockade is perfect and powerful." He made clear that pressure on Iran would continue, adding, "The situation will only get worse."
Trump also drew a clear line on the terms of any deal. He said, "An agreement will only be reached when it is good for the United States, our allies, and the world." He dismissed any possibility of a rushed settlement.
