KOSPI Composite Index Holds Slight Gains in the 6,430 Range Again... Retail Investors vs. Foreigners and Institutions in a Tug of War [Afternoon Market Update]

As of 2:46 p.m. that day, the KOSPI Composite Index was trading at 6,437.28, up 19.35 points, or 0.30%, from the previous session.
The index opened at 6,488.83, up 70.90 points, or 1.10%, from the previous session. It surged early in the session and broke above the 6,500 level.
It also hit an all-time high of 6,557.76, but later gave up its gains amid selling by foreigners and institutions.
In the KOSPI Market, retail investors bought 1.0355 trillion won worth of shares, while foreigners and institutions sold 731.4 billion won and 257.2 billion won worth, respectively.
Among the 14 largest stocks by market capitalization, Samsung C&T Corporation, Doosan Enerbility Co., Ltd., Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., and Samsung Life Insurance were among the strongest performers, rising 5.15%, 5.09%, 2.53%, and 2.42%, respectively.
On the other hand, Samsung Electro-Mechanics (-5.05%), LG Energy Solution (-4.13%), and Samsung Biologics (-2.88%) were among the decliners.
The KOSDAQ was trading at 1,170.74, down 10.38 points, or 0.88%, from the previous session. It opened at 1,189.10, up 7.98 points, or 0.68%, from the previous session.
