\r\n[The Financial News] The approval rating for the People Power Party has fallen to 15%, its lowest level since the Lee Jae-myung administration took office. It has set a new low just two months after first entering the teens.
In the National Barometer Survey (NBS) released on the 23rd, support for the People Power Party dropped to 15%, while support for the Democratic Party hit a record high of 48%.
As recently as February, support for the Democratic Party and the People Power Party stood in the 40% range and the low 20% range, respectively, maintaining a gap of about 20 percentage points. By late February, Democratic Party support had risen into the mid-40% range, and the People Power Party had fallen into the teens for the first time. Two months later, Democratic Party support has climbed close to a majority, while the People Power Party has hit a record low.
In terms of favorability, the People Power Party also ranked below the minor Rebuilding Korea Party and the Progressive Party. Its favorability had stayed in the 30% range, but in this survey it was measured at 20% for the first time. That is lower than the Rebuilding Korea Party's 32% and the Progressive Party's 21%, but higher than the Reform Party (RP)'s 14%. The Democratic Party posted a record-high favorability rating of 58%.
President Lee Jae-myung, who has been driving Democratic Party support, has maintained a positive rating of 69%, the highest level, from late last month through this survey. His negative rating stood at 21%, putting it just short of entering the teens.
The cited survey was conducted by Embrain Public, KStat Research, Korea Research International and Hankook Research from the 20th to the 22nd through telephone interviews with 1,005 people nationwide, using randomly selected virtual numbers from the three mobile carriers. The response rate was 17.7%, and the margin of error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.
