KOSPI Hits All-Time High, Nears 6,400... Closes at 6,388.47 [Market Close]

[The Financial News] The KOSPI Composite Index broke above the 6,380 level for the first time ever on the 21st. It was just about 12 points away from crossing 6,400.
The KOSPI Composite Index closed at 6,388.47, up 169.38 points, or 2.72%, from the previous trading day. It opened at 6,302.54, up 83.45 points, or 1.34%, from the previous session. The index surged relentlessly, repeatedly setting new record highs.
In the domestic stock market, individual investors sold 2.3645 trillion won worth of shares, while foreign investors and institutions bought 1.7467 trillion won and 796.2 billion won worth, respectively.
Among the 14 largest stocks by market capitalization, all but Hanwha Aerospace (-2.39%), Samsung Biologics (-1.06%), and KB Financial Group (-0.31%) finished higher.
Samsung SDI rose 19.89%, Samsung Electro-Mechanics gained 13.53%, LG Energy Solution climbed 11.42%, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries advanced 9.92%. SK hynix, the second-largest stock by market cap, broke above 1.2 million won for the first time ever. It closed at 1.224 million won, up 4.97% from the previous session.
Samsung Electronics, the largest stock by market cap, closed up 2.10% at 219,000 won.
Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (KOSDAQ) closed at 1,179.03, up 4.18 points, or 0.36%, from the previous trading day. The index opened at 1,186.23, up 11.38 points, or 0.97%, from the previous session's 1,174.85.
