\r\n[The Financial News] Former Institute for Democracy vice president Kim Yong criticized the Democratic Party for once again considering a strategic nomination of party spokesperson Kim Nam-guk for the National Assembly race in the Ansan-gap constituency in Gyeonggi Province, calling it favoritism. Democratic Party leader Jung Chung-rae declined to comment.
Speaking on MBC Radio that day, Kim said of Kim Nam-guk, "He received a strategic nomination once before. The party says strategic nominations are limited to one, so doing it again would be favoritism."
His remarks appeared to be a warning, as he is also considering running in the by-election for the Ansan-gap constituency, which will be held alongside the June local elections. He also took aim at former lawmaker Jeon Hae-cheol, who has expressed interest in running in Ansan-gap, saying, "When President Lee Jae Myung was party leader, he tried to push through a motion for arrest in the National Assembly. I am not sure whether Ansan residents will accept that."
Jung avoided giving a direct answer to Kim's claims. When reporters asked him about Kim during a meeting with the press in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province, on the same day, he replied, "I will 'no comment.'"
