\r\n[The Financial News] Taiwanese broadcaster Dee Hsu, also known as Hsu Hsi-di, expressed deep guilt and regret over the death of her older sister, the late Hsu Hsi-yuan, saying she had suggested the trip.
According to ETtoday and other Taiwanese media on the 20th, Dee Hsu spoke publicly for the first time since her sister's death during a recent recording of a Taiwanese variety show.
She said, "For a long time, my life felt like a blank space, and I wandered so much that I did not even know what I was doing." She added, "Talking about my mother and sister was the only way to ease my grief, and my mother often broke down in tears during that process."
Dee Hsu said she blamed herself for suggesting the trip to Japan that became her sister's final journey. She also shed tears, saying, "I keep wondering whether this tragedy could have been avoided if I had listened to my mother, who opposed the trip at the time."
Hsu Hsi-yuan drew public attention in 2022 when she reunited with her former lover, Clon member Koo Jun-yup, after more than 20 years and married him in what was hailed as a "love story for the ages." But she died suddenly of acute pneumonia during a family trip to Japan in February last year, leaving many in mourning.
Koo Jun-yup is reportedly continuing to pay tribute by guarding Hsu Hsi-yuan's grave even after her death.
