[The Financial News] It was belatedly revealed that an elementary school student in Wonju, Gangwon Province, saved his father, who had collapsed from cardiac arrest, by performing CPR.

He did not panic and called 119 Emergency Services... A son who performed CPR during the golden time
\r\nAccording to Wonju Fire Station on the 20th, Kim Hui-geon, a sixth-grade student at Seomgang Elementary School, was at home at around 8:21 a.m. on the 17th of last month when his father, who was sitting on the sofa, suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed. Kim immediately called 119 Emergency Services without panicking.
Following instructions from the emergency dispatch center, Kim calmly began CPR and continued chest compressions until paramedics arrived at the scene.
Because Kim did not give up and kept performing CPR, the paramedics who arrived at the scene were able to continue advanced treatment, and his father survived the crisis and regained his life.
For cardiac arrest patients, the first few minutes are the decisive moment that determines life or death, the so-called "golden time."
Recognizing this and acting on it is never easy, which is why the courage of a 13-year-old elementary school student, rather than a guardian or adult, is being praised for protecting that golden time.

Kim receives commendation... "Heart Saver Award" also under review
\r\nWonju Fire Station plans to commend Kim for his actions and is also actively considering awarding him the Heart Saver Award.
The Heart Saver Award is given to people who help improve survival rates and support recovery to daily life by providing rapid and appropriate emergency treatment to pre-hospital cardiac arrest patients. Introduced in 2008, it was established to promote a culture of valuing life and encourage participation in rescue efforts. The award is usually presented in the name of the chief of the relevant fire station.
Kim Jeong-gi, chief of Wonju Fire Station, said, "Emergency situations come without warning, but the actions of one prepared person can save a life." He added, "I hope this case encourages more citizens to take an interest in CPR and become the person who saves a life in a crisis."
