[The Financial News] Song Min-ho, a former member of WINNER, will face his first trial on charges of violating the Military Service Act.
According to the legal community on the 21st, the 10th Criminal Division of the Seoul Western District Court will hold the first hearing that day for Song Min-ho and A, the official responsible for managing his service, on charges of violating the Military Service Act.
Song Min-ho is accused of neglecting his duties while serving as a social service agent at a facility in Mapo District from March 2023 to December 2024, repeatedly taking leave and sick days and failing to report to work properly. A was also indicted for allegedly failing to supervise him despite knowing about his poor attendance.
Prosecutors believe that Song Min-ho was absent without permission for 102 days out of about 430 actual workdays, excluding weekends and public holidays, during his service as a social service agent.
Under Article 89-2 of the Military Service Act, a social service agent who leaves service for eight days or more in total without justifiable reason may face up to three years in prison.
Song Min-ho, who appeared for police questioning three times, denied the allegations during his first interview, saying, "I served properly." However, in a follow-up investigation that included evidence such as CCTV footage from his workplace, he admitted to most of the charges. The first hearing had been scheduled for March, but it was postponed at Song Min-ho's request and will now take place today.
