Father Who Served in the National Guard Shoots and Kills Seven of His Own Children... U.S. 'Mass Shooting' Tragedy

[The Financial News] The gunman behind the shooting tragedy that left eight children dead in Louisiana has been identified as the children's father.
On the 19th local time, CNN and The New York Times (NYT) reported that eight minors under the age of 11 were killed in a shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The victims were three boys and five girls between the ages of 3 and 11. Seven of them were reportedly the children of the shooter, Shamar Elkins, 31. The remaining victim was confirmed to be their cousin.
Elkins' wife was the first to be injured in the shooting, and another woman who was with the children is also in critical condition.
Another 13-year-old boy jumped from a roof to escape the gunfire and suffered fractures, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
According to Shreveport Police Department Chief Wayne Smith, the incident occurred around 6 a.m. that day. The Shreveport Police Department said it is treating the shooting as a domestic dispute and reported that Elkins appeared to fire at the victims in what looked like an execution-style attack.
NYT, citing interviews with Elkins' relatives, reported that he had been struggling with suicidal thoughts and that his wife had asked for a divorce.
Elkins served in the Louisiana National Guard for seven years until August 2020, and he had also been arrested in connection with a gun-related incident in 2019.
After the shooting, Elkins stole a vehicle, led police on a chase, and was shot dead.
