[Financial News]  A crude oil tanker that passed through the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since the United States and Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran on Feb. 28 is reportedly heading to South Korea.
Maeil Business Newspaper reported on the 20th that the Suezmax crude oil tanker Odessa was confirmed to be carrying about 1 million barrels of crude oil and heading to Daesan Port in South Chungcheong Province. It is the first time since the Iran war began that a tanker has headed to South Korea after passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The vessel is scheduled to arrive at Daesan Port on May 8 after loading crude oil in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The cargo is believed to be a supply shipment under an existing contract with HD Hyundai Oilbank. HD Hyundai Oilbank operates a refinery in Daesan.
The vessel is said to have exited the strait before Iran's military reblocked the Strait of Hormuz.
After the Eagle Valour arrived on the 20th of last month carrying 2 million barrels of crude oil, shipments through the Strait of Hormuz were effectively halted.
