[Financial News] The Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) said on the 20th that an Investigation of State Administration into allegations of fabricated indictments by political prosecutors under the Yoon Suk Yeol administration had exposed suspicions of prosecutorial misconduct, signaling that it may push for a Special Prosecutor.
Kang Jun-hyun, the DPK's chief spokesperson, held a press briefing at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea that day and said, "It seems the time has come to complete the comprehensive hearing and Investigation of State Administration," adding, "If what was identified or investigated in the state probe is an obvious fact, then it should naturally be converted into a Special Prosecutor."
He said, "That is the committee's stance," and added, "What can be done in a state investigation is limited. The committee believes a Special Prosecutor is needed to determine the facts more deeply."
Kang also drew a line on the party's request the previous day for it to file complaints against prosecutors who investigated cases including the Daejang-dong case, saying, "That is a matter for the party's policy committee or floor leadership to decide, as it concerns the parliamentary floor."
He also said, "Once the committee's activities end, the chair or secretary will speak about future plans."
