[The Financial News] With about 40 days left before the June 3 local elections, the People Power Party (PPP) will announce its final candidate for Seoul Metropolitan City Mayor on the 18th. The final nominee will face off against Democratic Party of Korea candidate Jung Won-oh for the Seoul mayoral seat.
The PPP Nomination Management Committee is scheduled to announce the results of the primary election on the morning of the 18th.
The primary was held over two days, from the 16th to the 17th, and the result will be determined by combining 50% from a public opinion poll and 50% from party member votes.
Within the PPP, incumbent Mayor Oh Se-hoon, lawmaker Park Soo-min, and former lawmaker Yun Hee-suk entered the race as primary candidates. Political insiders say the momentum appears to favor Oh.
The candidate selected as the final nominee on this day will go head-to-head with Jung Won-oh.
