[The Financial News] Some people may not lose weight even when they eat only a small amount of food each day. This is usually due to a lack of exercise or eating habits that include unhealthy foods.
Jinbok Lee, a family medicine specialist who has treated obesity patients for 30 years, revealed four foods he never eats on his YouTube channel, Dr. Lee TV.
The first food he named was cereal. Cereal is usually made mainly from refined grains such as corn or wheat. These ingredients can sharply raise blood sugar levels and make fat accumulation easier. Chocolate-flavored cereal, in particular, tends to contain very high amounts of sugar. Compared with rice, cereal is less filling, so it is easy to mistake it for a light meal. In reality, however, it can be higher in calories, so caution is needed. If you eat cereal for weight control, you should choose whole-grain products with no sugar or low sugar.
The second is French fries. The specialist emphasized, "A study found that people who ate French fries every day gained 1.58 kilograms every four years." French fries combine fat and carbohydrates, making them a high-calorie food that can easily lead to weight gain even in small amounts. They are also low in satiety and highly addictive, which makes overeating more likely.
Ice cream was chosen as the third food to avoid. Sweet and cold ice cream is often eaten as a way to relieve stress. However, it is high in sugar and fat, so it can be a major cause of obesity. What is more, because sweetness is less noticeable when it is cold, there is a significant risk of eating too much.
The last one is fruit juice. It is best to eat fruit in its unprocessed form whenever possible. Fruit contains plenty of dietary fiber, which slows digestion and helps maintain fullness. But when fruit is blended into juice, that key fiber can be lost. In particular, because it is absorbed into the body immediately without chewing, it can sharply raise blood sugar and accelerate fat accumulation.
