According to The Financial News, President Lee Jae-myung of South Korea said on the 17th that, for the first time since the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a Korean vessel is transporting crude oil safely via the Red Sea, calling it "good news."
Posting on X (social network), formerly Twitter, President Lee wrote, "It is good news that, for the first time since the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a Korean vessel is transporting crude oil safely via the Red Sea."
He went on to say, "This is a valuable achievement made possible by the relevant ministries working together as one team," adding, "I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has worked tirelessly day and night under difficult circumstances, especially the seafarers."
President Lee also stated, "The government is concentrating all its capabilities to overcome the crisis brought about by the Middle East war," and stressed, "We will continue to devote our utmost efforts to protecting the lives of our people and the national interest through thorough responses and flawless preparation."
