[The Financial News] Jennie of the group Blackpink has been named to U.S. newsweekly Time magazine's list of the "100 Most Influential People of the Year," underscoring her global impact.
On the 15th (local time), Time magazine released its TIME 100 list, and Jennie was included in the Artists category. The TIME 100 honors the influence, innovation, and achievements of the most influential people around the world, and Jennie is the only Korean to make this year's list.
Last year, with her solo album "Ruby," Jennie became the first female K-pop solo artist to place three songs on the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously.
Singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, daughter of renowned film director J. J. Abrams, introduced Jennie by saying, "To cut to the chase, she is a star."
She went on to say, "There is magic at her core," adding, "Whether you see her through a screen, in a stadium of 100,000 people, at a party, or in a backstage hallway, she draws you in just the same."
Also included in the Artists category were Korean American pop star Anderson .Paak and actor Dakota Johnson, among others.
In the Leaders category, the list featured former U.S. President Donald Trump, Pope Leo XIV, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
In the Icons category, Korean American snowboarder Chloe Kim and women's singles figure skating gold medalist Alysa Liu were among those selected.
Meanwhile, the full "TIME 100" list for 2026 is available on Time magazine's official website.
