KOSPI Jumps Over 3% on Hopes for Second U.S.–Iran Talks, Tops 6,140 [fn Morning Market Report]

As of 10:50 a.m., the KOSPI Composite Index was trading at 6,148.66, up 3.03% from the previous session. The index opened at 6,141.60, a gain of 2.91%, and has since extended its advance.
By investor type, foreign investors and institutions were net buyers in the main stock market, purchasing 422.3 billion won and 122.8 billion won, respectively. Individual investors were net sellers of 687.5 billion won.
Overnight, the three major U.S. stock indexes on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) continued to strengthen. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) ended at 48,535.99, up 0.66% from the previous session. The S&P 500 Index rose 1.18% to 6,967.38, while the NASDAQ Composite Index closed at 23,639.08, up 1.96%.
The domestic market is also maintaining a strong tone, led by large-cap semiconductor stocks. Samsung Electronics, one of the top companies by market capitalization, is trading at 214,500 won, up 3.87%. SK hynix is also up 4.94%, at 1,157,500 won.
By sector, construction (5.91%), IT services (4.69%), and electrical and electronics (3.85%) are showing strength, while paper and wood (-1.41%) and real estate (-1.35%) are weaker.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ market was at 1,146.02, up 2.15% from the previous session. The index started at 1,140.62, a rise of 1.67%, and has continued to move higher. In the KOSDAQ market, individuals, foreign investors, and institutions are all net buyers.
