[The Financial News] US Vice President JD Vance stated that President Donald Trump is pursuing a "comprehensive agreement" with Iran, not a "small deal," in ongoing negotiations.
Speaking at a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event in Georgia, Vance said the US delegation he leads had held more than 20 hours of talks with Iran. He stressed that Trump "does not want a small deal, he wants a grand bargain."
Vance noted, "The conditions President Trump has put on the table for Iran are clear," explaining, "If Iran gives up its nuclear weapons, we will help its economy prosper and bring it back into the global economy." He went on to emphasize, "We will enable the Iranian people to participate in the world economy in ways they have never experienced in their lifetimes."
His remarks are seen as reaffirming a transactional diplomatic strategy that combines military pressure with economic incentives. The concept goes beyond easing sanctions to envision normalizing Iran’s entire economic system, significantly broadening the scope of the talks.
At the same time, Vance acknowledged divisions in US public opinion over Middle East policy. He said, "I understand that many young voters do not like our current Middle East policy," conceding that fatigue is spreading as military confrontations drag on.
Rather than forcefully defending war itself, he focused on calling for unity within the conservative camp. Vance said, "Our goal is to ensure that Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons," while adding, "We do not have to agree on every single issue."
He continued, "You should not break away politically from the administration just because you disagree on one issue," and argued, "In the end, the way we take our country back is for the conservative movement to stand together."
