Cheong Wa Dae, the Blue House, expects stronger South Korea–U.S. ties after nomination of Michelle Eunjoo Steel as ambassador

Financial News reported that Cheong Wa Dae, the Blue House, said on the 14th, in connection with the nomination of Korean American politician Michelle Eunjoo Steel (Korean name Park Eun-joo), a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives, as the new nominee for United States Ambassador to South Korea, "If Ambassador-designate Steel is formally appointed, we expect she will contribute to strengthening South Korea–United States relations and to promoting friendship between the peoples of the two countries."
A Cheong Wa Dae official said the same day, "The government is aware that the U.S. side has officially nominated former Representative Steel as United States Ambassador to South Korea."
