[The Financial News] Since February, Israel has been attacking the Islamic Republic of Iran together with the United States of America (U.S.), and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has now claimed that Israel is protecting Europe. Aiming at European countries skeptical of the strikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran, he stressed that Israel is "on the front line of the Free World together with the U.S."
According to local media including The Times of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu made these remarks in a speech for the World War II Holocaust Remembrance Day for European Jews, released on the 13th (local time). The address was pre-recorded for security reasons.
Benjamin Netanyahu said, "Today, Europe is suffering from a profound moral vulnerability. It is losing its identity, its values, and its sense of responsibility to defend civilization against barbarism." He argued, "Israel is protecting Europe in its stead, a Europe that has forgotten far too much since the Holocaust."
He went on, "Europe has much to learn from us. Above all, it must learn the essential lesson of a clear moral distinction between good and evil," adding, "In moments of truth, it must remember that we must be willing to go to war for life and for good."
He said that Israel never forgets this responsibility, declaring, "Together with the United States of America (U.S.) and with allies that history will record in the years to come, we are defending ourselves and at the same time protecting the entire world." Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized, "Israel stands with the U.S. on the front line of the Free World."
Benjamin Netanyahu, who last June joined U.S. President Donald Trump in bombing the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear facilities, used the speech to praise his own record. He said that through two joint operations with the U.S. over the past year, they had "dealt a mortal blow to the evil regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
He argued, "Had we not acted against the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear, missile, and other military facilities, the names Natanz, Fordow, Isfahan, and Parchin would have been remembered as eternal symbols of terror, like Auschwitz, Treblinka, Majdanek concentration and extermination camp, and Sobibor extermination camp."
Benjamin Netanyahu stated, "We took action, and through a historically unprecedented partnership with Donald Trump and the U.S., we accomplished this." He added, "On this Holocaust Remembrance Day, we will remember this fact, and we are acting so that future generations will not be left with the regret of asking, 'What if they had acted back then?'"
