[Financial News] The original musical "Swag Age: Shout Out, Joseon!", which won an audience award in London’s West End, is set to meet Korean theatergoers.
According to PL Entertainment on the 13th, "Swag Age" will be staged on January 25–26 at the Goyang Eoullimnuri Eoullim Theater in Gyeonggi Province. After the 6 p.m. performance on the first day, there will be a special post-show talk with writer Park Chan-min, composer Lee Jungyeon, and director Lee Kyung-soo, joined by cast members Yang Hee-jun, Kim Soo-ha, and Lim Hyun-soo.
The musical "Swag Age: Shout Out, Joseon!" is set in a fictional Joseon era where "sijo" (traditional Korean verse) is banned, and follows young people who fight to reclaim their freedom through words and song. On September 8 last year, a one-night-only concert version, "Swag Age in Concert," was held at London’s Gillian Lynne Theatre in the West End and received strong praise from local audiences and critics. As a result, it went on to win the "Best Concert Production" category at the year-end BroadwayWorld UK/West End Awards, which are decided entirely by audience votes. The upcoming Goyang performances mark the first time the show meets domestic fans since receiving the award.
"Swag Age" premiered on June 18, 2019, at the Doosan Art Center and, including encores, has completed a total of five seasons through 2025.
In this run, the role of Dan, a commoner who stands up to the world using sijo as his weapon, will be played by Yang Hee-jun and Park Jung-hyuk. The role of Jin, who hides the fact that she is the daughter of a powerful court official and recites sijo among the common people, will be portrayed by Kim Soo-ha and Joo Da-on.
