Financial News – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned of strong military retaliation in response to the United States of America (US) ordering a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Sefa News, a media outlet of the IRGC, on the 12th local time, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy declared, "All ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is under the full control of the Iranian military authorities."
It continued, "If our enemies miscalculate even once, the strait will turn into a deadly maelstrom that will swallow them," issuing a military retaliation warning in response to US statements about the Strait of Hormuz.
In particular, the IRGC released a warning message along with video footage showing ships at sea framed in the crosshairs of a targeting scope, demonstrating its practical strike capabilities. The footage is seen as a signal that US and allied vessels passing through the strait could become targets at any time.
Earlier that day, US President Donald Trump ordered the United States Navy (US Navy) to impose a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz after peace talks broke down. President Trump stated, "The world's most powerful US Navy will immediately begin procedures to blockade all ships entering or leaving the Strait of Hormuz."
