[The Financial News] With the semiconductor market booming, there is a projection that SK hynix employees could receive performance bonuses of nearly 1.3 billion won per person.
According to the financial investment industry on the 12th, global investment bank Macquarie Securities forecast SK hynix’s operating profit for next year at 447 trillion won. Based on this estimate, the average performance bonus per employee at SK hynix would come to about 1.29 billion won.
In September last year, SK hynix reached a labor-management agreement to use 10% of operating profit as a fund for Profit Sharing (PS), a type of profit-sharing bonus, and scrapped the previous cap that limited payouts to 1,000% of base salary.
Applying this rule, if the company achieves 447 trillion won in operating profit next year, the PS pool would reach 44.7 trillion won. Dividing this by the roughly 34,500 employees on the payroll at the end of last year, each person could receive about 1.29 billion won.
This year’s annual operating profit is expected to approach 200 trillion won, leading to projections that the average PS payout early next year will be around 580 million won per employee.
Samsung Electronics is also reportedly reviewing an expansion of its performance bonus scheme. In recent labor talks, the company is said to have proposed using at least 10% of operating profit as a performance bonus pool. Macquarie Securities projects Samsung Electronics’ operating profit next year at 477 trillion won.
On that basis, a pool of about 50 trillion won would be created, allowing the company to pay an average of roughly 390 million won per domestic employee.
