Peace talks between the United States and Iran appear to have stalled over the issue of the Strait of Hormuz.
CNN reported on the 11th (local time) that, although neither side has issued an official statement or held a press briefing, points of disagreement that are blocking progress at the talks have begun to surface.
The main sticking point concerns the Strait of Hormuz.
Citing sources on the Iranian side, CNN reported that the United States is making "unacceptable demands" regarding the Strait of Hormuz and several other issues.
Reports in Iranian media have taken a similar tone.
The state-run Mehr News Agency reported that the United States has made "excessive demands" of the Iranian delegation. State broadcaster Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) said the United States "is taking an overly unreasonable stance in these talks."
On the same day, the delegation led by Vice President JD Vance began direct, face-to-face negotiations with Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan.
A basic agreement appears to have been reached, but differences that emerged in working-level discussions are reportedly causing the talks to become deadlocked.
