The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources announced on the 9th that they visited the Nongshim Anseong Plant to ensure a stable supply of instant noodles and infant formula, which are closely tied to people’s daily lives, and held a meeting with noodle and formula manufacturers and related associations.
The meeting mainly covered the current production status of instant noodles and infant formula, difficulties on the ground stemming from the war in the Middle East, and proposals and cooperation measures to maintain stable production.
Companies at the meeting, in particular, shared their views on contingency plans in case the Middle East conflict disrupts the production of instant noodles and infant formula. They raised issues such as securing a stable supply of raw materials for packaging, expanding the use of substitute packaging with sticker labeling, and requesting expedited customs clearance when packaging materials are imported.
Oh Yoo-kyung, head of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, said, "Instant noodles are not only a staple item in people’s daily lives but also a key export product, so we are working to ensure there is no disruption to K-food exports. Infant formula is an essential product for babies and young children, so we are actively responding as a one-team with relevant ministries to maintain stable production." She added, "The government will continue to provide necessary support through close communication and cooperation with the industry so that the public can purchase these products with confidence."
