[Financial News] On the 9th, the won–dollar exchange rate closed at 1,482.5 won, up 11.9 won from the previous trading day. The rate had fallen the day before, breaking a nine-session streak of closes in the 1,500-won range, but renewed tensions in the Middle East have pushed it back up.
Former U.S. President Donald John Trump wrote on Truth Social on the 9th (local time), "U.S. warships, aircraft, troops, ammunition, and weapons systems will remain in and around the Islamic Republic of Iran until a real agreement is reached and fully implemented."
When geopolitical risks rise, investors tend to shun risk assets, which drives down the value of the won while boosting the value of the dollar.
