[Financial News] Choo Mi-ae, the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) candidate for Governor of Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 8th that she will establish a "Gyeonggi Livelihood Countermeasures Committee" together with DPK candidates running in cities and counties across Gyeonggi Province.
At a press conference held that day at the National Assembly Communication Center, Choo expressed her gratitude for being selected as the final candidate the previous day. She highlighted her experience as leader of the Democratic Party of Korea and her record of campaigning in multiple nationwide elections, and pledged victory in the June local elections. The committee is the key initiative she put forward to secure that victory.
Choo stated, "In Gyeonggi Province, I will bring together expert groups on livelihood issues and the economy to form a broad-based election committee, and I will prepare the province's future with practical, inclusive figures who go beyond political camps and ideology." She continued, "As a first step, once DPK candidates are confirmed in all 31 cities and counties of Gyeonggi Province, we will immediately discuss pressing livelihood issues. We will set up a tentatively named 'Gyeonggi Livelihood Countermeasures Committee' under the DPK to address these issues."
She added, "On this basis, we will build a communication system capable of real-time responses linked to the current state of national affairs," and went on, "Through this, we will successfully complete the K-Semiconductor Cluster and foster dual-use advanced industries for both military and civilian applications to promote balanced development within the region. We will draw up practical, everyday policies closely tied to people’s lives and take responsibility for ensuring a happy life for 14.2 million residents of Gyeonggi Province."
After the press conference, Choo met with Park Joo-min, a DPK preliminary candidate for Seoul Metropolitan City Mayor, to offer encouragement. The results of the main primary to select the Seoul mayoral candidate will be announced on the 9th, the following day.
