Financial News reported that President Donald Trump of the United States, who had warned that Iran would destroy bridges and power plants if Tehran did not accept Washington’s peace proposal by 8 p.m. on the 7th (local time), announced that he would postpone the attack for two weeks.
On the 7th, about 1 hour and 28 minutes before the negotiation deadline with Iran, Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social to make the announcement. He wrote, "Following my conversations with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan’s army chief, I have decided to delay the devastating force that was to be sent to Iran tonight." Trump added, "I agree to suspend bombing and attacks on Iran for two weeks on the condition that the Iranian government fully, immediately, and safely opens the Strait of Hormuz."
The White House also issued a statement the same day, saying that Israel, which has been carrying out attacks on Iran alongside the United States, likewise agreed to the two-week ceasefire.
