[The Financial News] Homeplus announced on the 7th that it has expanded the number of stores offering its quick commerce service in partnership with Coupang Eats.
Amid intensifying competition in the retail sector around instant delivery-focused quick commerce, Homeplus is operating an on-demand delivery service based on its hypermarkets through a collaboration with Coupang Eats.
On March 31, Homeplus added the service at eight stores, including the Homeplus Gangseo Branch and Homeplus Seobusan Branch. From the 7th, it is further expanding operations to 11 additional stores, including the Homeplus Gimpo Branch and Homeplus Yeongdeungpo Branch. As a result, the total number of Homeplus stores available on Coupang Eats has increased to 47.
Under this service, customers living near participating stores can order fresh food, bakery items, and deli products for delivery. Operating hours are generally from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., although they may vary by store.
Homeplus plans to continue expanding related services on the Coupang Eats platform.
Cho Hye-young, Head of Online Marketing Division at Homeplus, said, "We are reshaping the paradigm of hypermarket shopping around immediacy by combining Homeplus's strength in fresh food and deli products with Coupang Eats' extensive delivery network," adding, "We will leverage the know-how from our own 'Magic Now' service to expand into hypermarket quick commerce, so that customers can experience Homeplus's unique, differentiated value anytime, anywhere."
