The PPP argued, "President Lee’s ‘apology diplomacy’ has ultimately left us with nothing but Kim Yo Jong’s remark that he is a ‘candid and bold person’ and a declaration of severed inter-Korean ties," and asked, "Where, exactly, can anyone find a ‘signal of improved relations’ in this?"
The party noted that up to now, Seoul had heard only ridicule from Pyongyang such as "cunning tricks," "empty pipe dreams," "sleep-talking about denuclearization," and "not a great man capable of changing the course of history." It then asked whether the administration is suddenly delighted just because of a single phrase calling Lee a "candid and bold person."
The PPP added that some people are even saying that under the Lee Jae-myung administration, watching Kim Yo Jong of North Korea has become oddly entertaining. It condemned the situation in which a president burdened by judicial risks and a Minister of Unification acting like a Red Guard for North Korea are taking it upon themselves to apologize and to unlock the gates on their own.
The PPP pointed out, "North Korea has violated our airspace multiple times without offering a single apology. Yet the Minister of Unification (MOU) has already expressed regret to the North twice, and now the president himself has stepped forward to apologize," expressing deep concern.
The party argued that the Lee Jae-myung administration bows its head before North Korea, which should in fact be apologizing to the South, while remaining silent about Pyongyang’s repeated provocations and responsibility. It denounced this as a distorted perception of North Korea that reverses perpetrator and victim, and as a self-destructive response that undermines South Korea’s own bargaining power.
The PPP further claimed that the government’s servile, low-profile stance sends North Korea only the wrong message—that "it is fine to provoke." The party declared, "We strongly condemn the Lee Jae-myung administration’s submissive view of North Korea, intoxicated by fake peace," and urged, "Even now, the government must wake up from its vain dream of fake peace and firmly demand an apology from the North for its outrageous provocations, along with a pledge to prevent any recurrence."
