The BOK will hold a joint seminar with researchers from the Banque de France on the 7th and 8th. Experts in digital assets and climate change will take part, sharing their research findings and policy experiences to date.
From the BOK, Director General of the Economic Research Institute Lee Jae-won and Deputy Director General of the Economic Research Institute Nah Seungho will attend. From the Banque de France, Deputy Governor Agnès Bénassy-Quéré and Head of Asia Office Stéphane Latouche will participate, among others.
They plan to discuss how stablecoins and central bank digital currency (CBDC) affect the payment system and the international monetary system. The seminar will also explore the roles of central banks and commercial banks in a tokenized environment.
In addition, they will assess potential climate-related risks by analyzing how climate change impacts inflation and the broader macroeconomy. The seminar will also outline policy tasks for financial institutions in responding to these challenges.
A BOK official said, "The two institutions will continue to expand this conference in the future to further strengthen academic exchange and cooperation."
