Donald John Trump said on the 6th (local time) that a mediation proposal for a 45-day ceasefire with the Islamic Republic of Iran to negotiate an end to the war was "important progress" but "not enough."
Trump also stressed that the final deadline for talks, which he had set for the 7th, still stands.
According to Cable News Network (CNN) and other foreign media, Trump continued to put pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran during a White House press conference that day.
He warned that the Islamic Republic of Iran could be swept away in a single night, adding that this night could be the night of the 7th.
Trump cautioned, "The entire country could be taken out overnight," and added, "That night could be tomorrow night."
Trump has warned that if the Islamic Republic of Iran breaks off negotiations or fails to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, its power plants, bridges, and other infrastructure will be destroyed by U.S. airstrikes. The deadline he set is 8 p.m. Eastern Time on the 7th (9 a.m. on the 8th in Korea).
The Islamic Republic of Iran has effectively rejected the ceasefire proposal.
The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that the Islamic Republic of Iran submitted a written response to the ceasefire proposal conveyed through Pakistan, stating that it "demands a permanent end to the war."
Trump warned that if the Islamic Republic of Iran does not surrender, "there will be no bridges, no power plants, nothing left," and when asked whether he is willing to continue the war, he replied, "Yes." However, he added, "We will have to see," suggesting that the continuation of the war could depend on the course of the negotiations.
Trump also claimed that the current war has already brought about a change of regime in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He said, "The people now negotiating with us on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran are far more rational than the previous madmen," adding, "I would call that regime change."
He further revealed an ambition to turn the Islamic Republic of Iran into a country like the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, replace its regime, and secure U.S. control over its oil.
Trump said, "If I had the choice, I would take Iran's oil and hold on to it to make a lot of money," adding, "We would take much better care of the Iranian people."
After ousting President Nicolás Maduro Moros in January, the United States has been controlling the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela's oil exports and involving itself in related interests.
