[The Financial News] A story about a Korean tourist who was injured in a traffic accident in Da Nang, Vietnam in 2024 and repaid the kindness of a local woman two years later by meeting her again in Seoul is drawing attention.
On the 5th (local time), Vietnamese outlet VnExpress reported on the heartwarming story between Vietnamese woman Ngoc Anh and a Korean tourist identified as A. According to VnExpress, A was involved in a motorcycle traffic accident in Da Nang in June 2024.
At the time, Ngoc, who was on vacation in Da Nang with her family, heard a loud noise from outside and went out to check. There she found A and his friend, who had been in the accident. A suffered only minor injuries, but his friend’s arm was broken.
Because A and his friend could not communicate well in the local language, they were unable to get immediate help. Ngoc then brought water to clean their wounds and called a taxi so they could get to a hospital, the report said.
She went further, helping A’s group by negotiating with the rental company over repairs to the damaged motorcycle. Ngoc’s family also invited A to join them for dinner and a fireworks festival during his last three days in Da Nang, extending kindness to a foreign tourist who had suffered an accident far from home.
In return, A promised Ngoc, "If you come to Korea, I will repay you." They then lost touch for about two years, but reconnected early this year when Ngoc began planning a trip to Korea. When they met again, A took her out for meals and shopping, showed her around the Seongsu-dong area of Seoul, and, as an expression of gratitude, covered all the related expenses.
A video capturing their reunion has spread across social networking service (SNS) platforms, racking up nearly 10 million views. Ngoc said, "At first, I had a negative perception of Korean tourists, but that has changed," adding, "I’m happy that we’ve been able to keep this kind of friendship."
