KOSPI rises on institutional buying; Samsung Electronics climbs over 3% [Afternoon Market Brief]

[The Financial News] The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) was holding above the 5,400 level on the 6th, supported by institutional buying.
As of 3:01 p.m. that day, the KOSPI was trading at 5,423.21, up 45.91 points, or 0.85%, from the previous session.
The KOSPI opened at 5,423.35, up 46.05 points, or 0.86%, from the previous close. In the domestic main board market, individual investors and foreign investors were net sellers of about 839 billion won and 341.7 billion won, respectively.
Institutions, on the other hand, were net buyers of roughly 816.1 billion won.
Among the top 14 stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Electronics (up 3.22%), LG Energy Solution (up 3.20%), and Samsung Life Insurance (up 1.58%) were posting the largest gains. In contrast, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (down 1.88%), Doosan Enerbility (down 1.04%), and Hyundai Motor Company (down 0.74%) were declining.
The KOSDAQ Index was trading at 1,046.53, down 17.22 points, or 1.62%, from the previous session. The index had opened at 1,068.33, up 4.58 points, or 0.43%.
