[Financial News] Jang Dong-hyeok, leader of the People Power Party (PPP), has filed a criminal complaint against a progressive YouTuber on suspicion of stalking.
According to police on the 3rd, Jang filed a complaint on the 24th of last month with the Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station, accusing A, the host of the progressive YouTube channel "Jeongchi Hanjan," of violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes.
Since last year, Jeongchi Hanjan has been following Jang to various events he attends and asking questions such as, "When will you dispose of your six houses?"
A received a written warning from the police stating that, "If you repeatedly or continuously engage in stalking behavior toward another person, their cohabiting partner, or family members without a justifiable reason, causing anxiety or fear, you will be strictly punished under the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes."
During a YouTube broadcast that day, Jeongchi Hanjan protested, asking, "Is it right to define going to a party leader's public schedule and asking public questions as stalking and to issue a warning for that?" Even so, the host added that, with the local elections approaching and the possibility of also being booked on suspicion of violating the Public Official Election Act, future activities would be carried out more cautiously.
