The Financial News reported, citing The Jerusalem Times, that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a precision strike on the Kermanshah region in western Islamic Republic of Iran on the 2nd (local time), killing Makram Atimi, commander of Iran’s central ballistic missile unit.
According to the IDF, Atimi had led dozens of missile attacks launched toward the State of Israel. The IDF added that in separate strikes, it also eliminated several battalion commanders from the same unit.
The IDF explained, "This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to degrade Iran’s missile capabilities and command structure."
The IDF also announced that it had killed Jamshid Eshaqim, head of the Iranian Armed Forces Fuel Command.
This command is a key body that sustains the regime’s military buildup and apparatus of repression through revenue from oil sales.
The IDF stated, "Eshaqim was the head of the logistics industry responsible for ballistic missile production and of the financial sector that drives the regime’s mechanisms for repressing civilians," adding, "He also played a central role in allocating billions of dollars to terrorist proxy groups across the Middle East, including Hezbollah and the Houthi rebels."
It particularly stressed that the vast oil revenues the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has generated by circumventing international sanctions are a primary source of funding for terrorist activities worldwide.
Earlier, on the 1st, the Israeli Air Force struck the IRGC Finance Headquarters in Tehran. According to the IDF, this headquarters manages funding for the production of thousands of ballistic missiles and has provided financial support to the Internal Security Forces and the Basij militia, which massacred thousands of civilians during protests in late December last year.
