POSCO DX COMPANY LTD. accelerates AX in manufacturing sites with high-performance NPUs

POSCO DX COMPANY LTD. announced on the 2nd that it had signed a "business agreement for implementing AI transformation (AX) using neural processing units (NPUs)" with AI semiconductor startup Mobilint at its Pangyo Office Building. In February, POSCO DX, together with POSCO Investment, invested a total of 3 billion won in Mobilint through the POSCO DX Corporate Venture Capital New Technology Investment Partnership.
An NPU is a semiconductor specialized for AI computation such as deep learning and machine learning, offering high power efficiency. It is particularly suitable for implementing edge AI by being installed directly in on-site equipment control systems, eliminating the need to route data through remote AI data centers or servers. Under this collaboration, POSCO DX plans to mount Mobilint’s NPU on its in-house industrial control system, PosMaster, to build an intelligent factory where AI-based analysis and control can be performed instantly at the equipment control stage in industrial sites.
Mobilint is the only company in Korea that possesses high-performance NPU technology capable of running Large Language Models (LLMs) in edge environments.
