[Financial News] A woman living in the State of Michigan in the United States has reportedly won a 1.2 million dollar (about 1.8 billion won) lottery prize after buying tickets with the same numbers for years.
According to People magazine on the 30th of last month (local time), a 69-year-old woman who matched all six numbers—2, 16, 18, 19, 26 and 42—in the lottery drawing held on the 11th received a 1.2 million dollar payout.
The woman, who asked not to be named, said, "I’ve been playing the lottery with the same set of numbers for years. So when I saw the winning numbers after the drawing, I knew right away that I had won."
She went on, "I woke my husband up and said, 'I think I won the lottery.' We took the ticket and looked it over carefully, and that’s when we realized it really was a winning ticket," she said, unable to hide her excitement.
After taxes, the woman is said to have received about 832,000 dollars (around 1.25 billion won). She stated, "Thanks to the lottery win, my husband can retire, and we can enjoy the rest of our lives in comfort," adding that she plans to use the money as retirement funds.
In the same drawing, hundreds of participants won various prizes ranging from 5 dollars (about 7,500 won) to 5,000 dollars (about 750,000 won), but she was reportedly the only one to take home the large 1.2 million dollar jackpot.
