According to Financial News, President of the United States Donald John Trump, who is scheduled to deliver a national address at 10 a.m. on the 2nd Korea time, is expected to explain the situation in the ongoing military conflict with the Islamic Republic of Iran and outline the concrete timetable ahead.
On the 1st (local time), The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing an anonymous White House official, reported that Trump has said all objectives of the U.S. military operation against the Islamic Republic of Iran, now in its second month, have been met and is expected to reiterate that it will be brought to an end within the next two to three weeks.
Earlier, Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, saying, "The president of the new regime in the Islamic Republic of Iran has just asked the United States for a cease-fire," and added, "We will consider it when the Strait of Hormuz is completely open and secure."
However, the Iranian Foreign Ministry issued an official statement on Trump’s reference to a cease-fire request, calling it "completely false and baseless."
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the dominant force within Iran’s military, stated that "the Strait of Hormuz remains firmly under Iran’s control" and dismissed Trump’s moves as "a mere show of bravado."
Meanwhile, an Iranian official addressed speculation about the health of Mojtaba Khamenei, the newly elected Supreme Leader of Iran, stressing that he is "in very good health." The official explained that he has simply stayed out of the public eye because of the exceptional circumstances of wartime.
