[Financial News] Cheong Wa Dae (the Blue House) stated on the 1st, regarding the supply of volume-based waste bags, that it is "not considering any restrictions on purchases."
A Cheong Wa Dae official told reporters in the press pool that day, "Imports of Naphtha from Russia have resumed, and there is sufficient Naphtha in our country, so there will be no purchase limits on volume-based waste bags."
Earlier that morning, Kim Sung-hwan, Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment, appeared on the YouTube program "Kim Eo-jun's News Factory" and, speaking about the bags, remarked, "Until now, we have voluntarily restricted sales, but until the situation stabilizes, we may need to impose per-person sales limits, similar to what we did with masks."
After Kim Sung-hwan said that "there are no problems with supply" while also revealing that per-person sales limits were under review, Cheong Wa Dae moved quickly to correct the remarks and calm the situation.
The Cheong Wa Dae official added, "What the President of the Republic of Korea instructed the climate ministry to do was simply to adjust by region, since the stock of volume-based bags may differ from one local government to another," and continued, "Overall supply is not insufficient. There will be no purchase restrictions."
The official also addressed the issue of 26 Korean vessels being held in the Strait of Hormuz, saying, "The President of the Republic of Korea ordered the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea to coordinate so that, whether by exiting through the Strait of Hormuz or, if the shipping companies wish, by transporting crude oil via the Red Sea, and then report back on the results."
