Cheong Wa Dae said on the 1st that a media report claiming the government is considering designating May 4 as a temporary public holiday is "groundless."
A Cheong Wa Dae official stated, "We have not reviewed designating May 4 as a temporary public holiday."
Earlier, one media outlet reported that the government was reviewing a plan to designate May 4 as a temporary public holiday, in order to create a five-day break from May 1 (International Workers' Day) to May 5 (Korean Children's Day).
