President Lee Jae-myung promoted Jeon Eun-soo, deputy spokesperson at Cheong Wa Dae (the Blue House), to spokesperson on the 1st. Kang Yu-jeong, who has been serving as spokesperson, will now take on the role of chief spokesperson. Kyuyoun Lee, Senior Presidential Secretary for Public Relations and Communications at Cheong Wa Dae, met with the presidential press corps at the Chunchugwan Press Center at Cheong Wa Dae that day and announced that Deputy Spokesperson Jeon had been promoted to spokesperson. Jeon moves up from a Grade-2 senior administrative officer to a Grade-1 presidential secretary and will serve as spokesperson. Cheong Wa Dae had been searching for a successor to former spokesperson Kim Nam-joon, who resigned in February and ran in the by-election for the Incheon Gyeyang-eul constituency.
Under the latest reshuffle, Kang Yu-jeong, as chief spokesperson, will oversee the entire spokesperson’s office. As a result, Cheong Wa Dae will now operate under a structure led by Chief Spokesperson Kang Yu-jeong, Spokesperson Jeon Eun-soo, and Deputy Spokesperson Ahn Gwi-ryeong.
Spokesperson Jeon Eun-soo was born in Busan in 1984 and attended elementary, middle, and high school in Ulsan. After graduating from Gongju National University of Education, she worked as an elementary school teacher, then went on to Pusan National University School of Law and became a lawyer. She was recruited by the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) in January 2024 and ran in the 22nd general election in the Ulsan Nam-gu Gap constituency. After President Lee Jae-myung took office, she was appointed deputy spokesperson and has served in that role since the beginning of his term.
